Teamwork. 30 years of CGAC | Contemporary accounts from the CGAC Collection

An anniversary is more than a celebration. To remember history is also to take stock, to review and reread the past in order to gain momentum for the future. This review exercise also necessarily implies the recognition of the work of all those people and institutions that, in one way or another, have participated in the planning and execution of a programme and in the construction of an essential public collection.

Sunset at the Gaiás 2023

Consolidated as one of the unmissable musical events in the Compostelan summer, the cycle of open-air concerts of Atardecer no Gaiás (Sunset at the Gaiás) programmes this year 18 dates to extend the afternoons of July and August enjoying the best live music. This year's line-up includes popular national artists, such as the rappers Juancho Marqués and Bejo, the pop with electronic vibes of Rocío Saiz and Natalia Lacunza, or the punk rock of Biznaga.

Rebel/vealed in the landscape (IV)

The fourth edition of Rebel/vealed in the landscape, cycle of artistic interventions in the green areas of the Gaiás, maintains its commitment of taking art beyond the walls of a museum, highlighting the value of the natural spaces of the City of Culture. Since its beginnings, the cycle searches for a way of giving visibility to the presence of women in all the realms of contemporary art. A yearning that materialises in the selection of curators and artists that are part of the project every year, and who reflect the diversity within the creative field.

Interventions:

Galiverso somerxido (submerged Galiverse)

Welcome to the Galiverso somerxido (submerged Galiverse), a unique journey to discover the Galician heritage hidden within our maritime domain. From the Gaiás Centre Museum, mounted on a bathyscaphe and with the help of virtual reality lenses, we will explore the seabeds of the Galician coast, learning about the fauna and flora that inhabit in them as well as about the singular historical episodes in which the sea was the protagonist.

Behind the mirror

Behind the mirror offers a look at Galicia through the eyes of 50 renowned figures in the arts, science and thought of the last century: important men and women in the history of universal culture who explored the Galician reality or drew inspiration from it.

Creative Paths

We walk to discover, both ourselves and other people, and we also walk to create. The exhibition Creative Paths explores the link between movement and art and looks in depth at how travelling on foot is a determining factor in the creative process. In the final stretch of the 21-22 Jacobean Year, Creative Paths is the great international exhibition with which the Galician government will say farewell to this event until its next edition.

Of places and things. Banco Sabadell Art Collection

By definition, a place is any given space capable of holding any given thing. What enables us to characterise and distinguish one place from another is precisely the nature of what they hold (people, things, thoughts), as well as the processes and the period in which they were constructed. Memory, identity, belonging or limitation are among the key concepts associated with places that give them some sort of meaning for us.

Galiverso starts here

Galiverso empeza aquí  [Galiverso starts here] is an initiative by the Xunta de Galicia that uses immersive technologies and virtual reality with the aim of giving a new twist to how we showcase our tangible and intangible heritage (artistic, industrial, architectural, natural, etc.).
