Medallas de Galicia 2026

On Friday 24th July the Gaiás Centre Museum hosts the award ceremony of the Medallas de Galicia 2026 (Medals of Galicia). The Medal of Galicia is the highest distinction of honour awarded by the Xunta to people or institutions that for their merits in the service of Galicia in any aspect of its social, cultural or economic reality, are worthy of obtaining the recognition of the Galician people.

In this edition, the awards pay tribute to the Galician community abroad and recognise Claudia Álvarez, an Argentine businesswoman of Galician origin, president of the Álvarez Argüelles Hotels group; Beatriz Gil, Chief Public Prosecutor for Minors in the Swiss canton of Aargau; Carla Angola, a prominent Venezuelan journalist, daughter of an Ourensian woman exiled after the Spanish Civil War; and Camila Fernández, one of the most prominent dental professionals in Brazil.
